From a single vineyard on Waiheke, this wine bursts with a heady mix of cassis, black plum and blackberry, brightened by a pop of red cherry. There’s a savoury edge, with dried herbs, a hint of graphite, and classic Cabernet pencil-shavings. The palate is juicy, concentrated, with a core of dark fruit, layered and lush, wrapped in mouth-coating tannins that are both fine and satisfyingly grippy. Finishing long on dark fruit, savoury herbs and a dusting of cocoa. It’s balanced, complex and shows off its roots.
