Forager Pinot Noir 2023
North Canterbury, New Zealand
Single Vineyard, Vineyard Fermented, by Winemaker: Dom Maxwell
5+ stars / 95pts
Perfumed and lifted, with a pronounced, complex nose of red cherry and wild strawberry, layered with rose, lilac and violets, over ferrous earth, crushed rock and an iron-like core - with subtle spice and smoke suggesting lees and older barrels over new oak. Light-bodied with high acidity, the palate is tightly coiled and taut, with red fruit, fine-grained, ripe tannins, and a lightly saline edge on the finish. Precise, savoury and structural, with real finesse and expression - a Pinot Noir that rewards your attention, rather than giving it all away upfront.
